The older model is better.
I bought these because I have another pair of flyknit, and I washed a half marathon five days after I got them. While they wear great, the configuration of the “tongue” area is different than my older pair and can be quite a challenge to put on. Once your heel is in, you still have to do some adjusting so that a lump does not form on the side of your foot, where the solid “tongue” folds up. I prefer the older version.

Clearing up a history smokescreen
People who grow up in Shasta County likely know about the copper smelters that wiped out vegetation in a broad swath, at the turn of the 20th century. But it's likely they do not know just how devastating that was, or of the unsuccessful legal battle to stop it. For those who aren't familiar with Shasta County flora and landforms, this story is a cautionary tale, one that continues to have an impact today across the country. It's a story of foreign corporations vs farmers that today could be told in Alaska or North Dakota. It's a story of jobs vs the environment, city business interests vs. country folk. And it's a story about a legal battle that overturned precedent and declared that money and profit can trump the health of neighboring people and property.
