Surprisingly readable and clearly narrated

Surprisingly readable and clearly narrated—no small achievement given the complexity of the Arab-Israeli conflict. The book sober and even handed but offers a clear critique of the Israeli government's approach to the conflict. The book deals at length with the decision making process among the leaders of Israel, based on Israeli archival research. It ends at the end of the 20th century, so isn't a resource for more recent history.
