More than a movie
Mel Gibson has given the public two occasions to see history from the inside out; The Passion of Christ and Apocalypto. In this film, he shows a society that has long since been gone but yet lives in it's descendants. It shows the Maya right on the cusp of self destruction. A great flick.

Amor en Rebeldia
I have been subject to an increasing interest in Emiliano Zapata and being on a limited budget, I can't afford to buy everything I want to satisfy this interest. When I saw this was a Mexican production, I had to have it. And from e-Bay, it wasn't costly at all. The ad said that certain liberties were taken with his love-life but did give a good impression of the situation there then. They missed their own mark. A fictionall affair with a beautiful woman (played by Lorane Rojas, well qualified for the role), which was created for this movie. The actual court-ship of Josefa was completely 180'd out of whack. A more accurate account of the courtship of Josefa was shown in the 1952 movie with Marlon Brando,"Viva Zapata". I thought it was done as a mini-series but it looks like it was shot as a "tevenovela", the south-of-the-border version of the soap opera. For over-all entertainment, it was pretty good but, as a historical sketch, not so hot. But, what the hey, "Viva Zapata".

Hobbit
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich I don't like how the writers have sacrificed story content for special effects. But, I think the series is going to be a classic and this disc helps to complete the collection.
