Rare steelbook delivers dated but nostalgic horror.
This limited edition steelbook arrived yesterday and I was really excited to watch it. The Beyond, as you know, is not available as a U.S. release on bluray, thus the $45 pricing. The artwork and packaging are both handsomely done and impressive. The discs, one bluray and one dvd, were also attractive. The transfer itself looked better in HD than any previous version and added to movies moody but dated ambience. The influx of zombie video like the Walking Dead has really surpassed the level of gore and sfx this 1981 film can offer so what we are left with is atmosphere, story and cinematography. The acting in these types of films was never really that important anyway. If you like this movie buy it. It is, after all, rare on bluray and still delivers what you'd expect from an 80's horror outing.

The best hi-def transfer of NOTLD available anywhere. Pic Quality = 4/5
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich This review is for the Happinet - region free - japanese bluray edition of NOTLD. The artwork and packaging looks quite attractive. The hi-def video presentation of the film is very sharp, especially for a movie of this vintage. There is plenty of visible detail and the image contrast is rather strong. I must say that this is the best that Romero's landmark classic has ever looked, in my humble opinion. It's like watching it for the first time, again. If you like this film and haven't done so already, add this must have horror Opus to your blu ray collection now. Right now.

A must have for giallo fans.
The Fifth Cord is an impressive giallo in the vein of Tenebre and Deep Red. It is extremely well shot and has some striking set peices along with a memorable soundtrack. Arrow video has done great job on this restoration. Franco Nero is exemplary in the starring role. A must have for giallo fans.
