Not even close to the original
The connectors on this unit are not compatible with existing setups; although the add states it will work in a 1997 escort, that claim is false. I had to remove the new tape deck portion from the radio and install it into the old unit. At the very least the tape deck portion of the new radio is compatible with the old radio. This is not a trial and error situation, you have to know what you are doing to disassemble both units and reassemble them correctly

Interchangeable
This unit the cdx-gt200 works perfectly with a cdx-gt100 base unit. My face plate died on my cdx-gt100 and I was able to easily use the gt200 face plate without having to install the entire unit.
