A strategic, cerebral game about social engineering.
I don't really like violent or sadistic games. This one had some intriguing elements but I was honestly worried I would hate it based upon its subject matter. However, you are encouraged to not only reduce the harm you do, but to avoid interfering with anyone's life at all except your target. The overwhelming impression the game makes is that people are overwhelmingly dutiful and trustworthy; you exploit these facts in the game, but not without cost. The ethics of hitman-ing are presented as murky and unmasterable. You cannot play this game as a shooter. You have to listen and think, using not logic but social reasoning and patience. It's unlike any other game, including other stealth games. There's no slinking in shadows, moving from checkpoint to checkpoint. The problem solving is non-linear, and the game only makes sense with repeated plays. You are not just achieving objectives, you are trying to learn how each world works. It's really clever and rewarding.
