This album is an important early element in The Jazz Messengers legacy. This recording represents the studio output of the first Jazz Messengers lineup. The live recordings of this ensemble are on Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers at Cafe Bohemia, Volumes i and II, This music makes for exceptional listening!
