The Lost and the Damned....Little Guys!
Warcry is a compilation of multiple stories in the Warhammer: AOS setting, the sequel to the Warhammer Fantasy universe. Each story features individuals from a wide variety of factions and backgrounds, all of whom have one thing in common: they are devoted servants of the Ruinous Powers, looking to make a name for themselves. Their collective goals revolve around catching the eye of Archaon the Everchosen, anointed champion of the Dark Gods. If you think that sounds like a fun time...well, in a way you would be right.
Reading this book will give you an intimate portrait of self-mutilating cultists, Machiavellian sorcerers, antiheroes and outright villains. I'm afraid you won't find the likes of Goetrek or Felix among them, and some of the things they do are outright stomach-churning. Nevertheless, the stories are generally so well-written and engaging that it's easy to look past the scum and villainy. It's always interesting to see the world from the perspective of Chaos' humble foot soldiers instead of the Gorequeens and Everchosens that usually take the spotlight.
All in all, this book is an enjoyable romp through the Warp-blasted wastes of the eight realms. If you're a fan of the genre, don't let this one slip through your fingers.
