Worth the read
Bought for my 1990 Polaris 250 Trail Boss. Came in pre-wound.
Pros: pre-wound, seems to be good quality, was able to install with no experience
Cons: the metal ring to keep it wound for shipping is difficult to take off while keeping the spring wound
The spring came undone when j was jn stalling and I had to rewind it by hand. This may very well have been due to my lack of experience. I have seen videos of it bound in a different way which would have made for an easier install but that may have been homemade. Overall very satisfied.
Update:
The spring messed up. I had only pulled the rope a few times and it messed up. It did not brake but it bent weird. I tried to straighten it to no avail. I heated it and regent it and put it back together. It only worked for like 2 pulls. I ended up drilling a hole in the end of the spring and a hole in the metal washer deal that the spring is supposed to tension and wired the 2 together. For the time being it works.
With all of this said, I’m not an expert. However, I would consider myself an intuitive country boy.
