Inexpensive alternative to OEM
Although these Mini Cooper tail lights are a great alternative to OEM for way less money, the quality control was lacking. By that I mean the adhesive that was used to glue together the clear lens with the base clearly had excess coming out of the area where they bind together. Ultimately, I had to delicately take a dremel to sand down the excess in order for them to fit properly. Other than that, I’m satisfied with them.

Classic styling for that NOS mindset
After much deliberation (as well as buying and installing 1970's era NOS Benotto celo tape and not liking it) I decided to go the route of Newbaum's black cloth tape with some twine that I got at a local craft store to finish off the top center on my 1974 Schwinn Paramount restoration. Can't say enough good things about the tape. If you want to take your Newbaum's tape one step further (affordable, classy option) put a few coats of shellac on the finished product.
All things considered, Newbaum's is quality cloth tape that has a timeless look.
