Great speakers for the budget-conscious audiophile
I needed a new set of floorstanding speakers for my living room that would look nice (white color was mandatory) as well as sound good, and would not break the bank while doing so. The Zensors have now been discontinued and replaced by the new Oberon line, but I got the Zen 5s for a very competitive price and preferred their appearance to the new version, and the difference in sound quality didn't justify paying over 50% more for the updated model.
The Zensor 5 is a lively speaker, and is more than loud enough for my 14x20 foot living room, with good clarity and articulation, especially in the top end. Despite being an older model, you can easily combine them with the newer Spektor or Oberon line of speakers for a full home theater experience, as they all share the same Scandinavian visual aesthetic and sound tonality. Despite their small size, which for me was also a huge plus, they reach reasonably low in the bass (around ~43Hz or so) and don't necessarily need a subwoofer for music. For movies I'd still recommend one.
I'm very pleased with my purchase. The Zensor 5s are pretty little things that can still get in your face if you turn the volume up, what's not to like?
