A budget, no-frills, user-friendly PVR
The Hitachi HDR range of PVRs, like most other more expensive brand PVRs - some of which I have binned, have gone in for some criticism due to their erratic behaviour.
Common faults are slow response and freezing and successful usage does require some patience and adjustments to the settings and setup. Also, it takes a couple of minutes from switching on to operational.
The first to remember that if you are in an area that picks up two transmitters, you must perform a manual setup to pick up only one transmitter. The second thing is to reduce the number of channels on your PVR to as few as you really need - probably a couple of dozen is all most people ever tune into. The configuration after setup can easily be changed to perform this.
If the PVR does freeze, it will eventually wake up, but you can turn off the power, wait a few minutes and turn it on again to reset it without the loss of any recordings or setup configurations.
There is always slow response if playback is occurring at the same time as recordings are being made. Fast forwarding is the main problem as the machine has so much going on at that particular time.
This particular PVR is very simple to setup and even easier to operate with a user friendly remote. The EPG guide layout is very good and the logging in of programmes couldn't be simpler.
Connection to a television for the HDR325 and previous models, which are standard definition, is via a Scart lead, but the end result is excellent picture and sound quality.
The machine itself is compact and unobtrusive and overall I would recommend this budget, no-frills product if you want a PVR and spot one for sale.

Will not work on Windows 7 OS
Although, this Item appears well made, it will not run on a Windows 7 OS - I tried on both a desktop PC, which is what I wanted it for, and a laptop and could not get this wi-fi adapter to be recognised. It appears to be a driver problem and no amount of time-consuming searching on line could find a driver that would make it work in Windows 7.
However, it was recognised on another laptop running Windows 8.1 OS.
So, if you're running Windows 7, best to get a USB wi-fi adapter with the driver on an included CD, which I have now done.

Good product, but not for certain e-bikes
Although the bag dimensions would appear to fit my rack. I could not get it to fit my e-bike rack - the Velcro securing straps were just not long enough and securing them under the rack was impossible.
The bag was very good quality, with lots of pockets and good value too, so it was a pity it wasn't suitable for my e-bike.
I, therefore, would not recommend it for an e-bike with the battery below the rack. But for a standard bike, it should be fine.
