Modest and unpretentious and accurate
Just the thing for small meals with unexpected ingredients and exceptional flavors. And just what I was looking for....recipes easy and clear with no sudden twists that make it impossible, no unusual gadgets; everything is available locally and success is in your hands!!

I don't care for the title...
Nothing is more boring than a book about a book...usually. This is the exception!!
A preemptory strike at Darwin, Vestiges tried to make Darwinian ideas look bad before they were hatched. Well, we know the outcome: Darwin is read everyday somewhere in the world; the book that this book is about is read now and then, here and there, from cover to middle.
A good book is full of details...but so are boring books: there's a bibliophiles rule: the more detail, the more boredom. But think Alan Nevins...he brings the civil war years to life with vivid detail; ...and so does Secord...not a handful of data thrown recklessly on the page, but carefully chosen, well-placed detail in the service of the message. this is a good book in the spirit of McLuhan
