Decent design, but lacks precision
Followed directions for setting the collar up. Set the center and distance. Directions say it retains the center when you turn it back on. It does NOT. I did this on both collars, and same results. Additionally, even when I re-set the center (I stand on the same EXACT spot each time I do this), the collar lacks precision...SIGNIFICANTLY. I have a 1000' driveway. I had the radius set to "4" (40 meters). Took my dog down the driveway so that he could learn where his boundary is. It did not even warn him until we were over 200 feet (over 60 meters) away from the center. Other times, the collar would alert if my dog wandered just 15 feet (less than 5 meters) from the center. Again, these things happened when using EITHER collar, so it wasn't just a defective product....it is consistent with 2 separate units. Additionally, I thought maybe the trees on my property were interfering with GPS signal (although I had 4 bars showing). But I took it to an open field (like 200 acres of openness), and it still lacked precision there as well.
The quality of build and design is nice, although the high gloss finish of the screen can get fingerprints and smudges and can be difficult to read then. But quality of build and design are nothing if the things are not functioning with some amount of reliability. Thank goodness I did not turn the shock feature on, since I was still trying to train him. The inconsistent message being sent to my dog would not have been fair to him and would not have resulted in him understanding anything about where he could or could not be. Do not buy this unless and until they do some major reconfiguration on there GPS accuracy.
