Another iFi Triumph

So smooth, so cultured but viciously powerful! Brimming with iFi goodness that has a warmth and character reminiscent of vinyl with analogue amplification. I had used a Shanling UP5 as my mobile driver until trying the hip-dac. The UP5 has been retired completely, it seems cold, lifeless and “muddy” in comparison. The hip-dac is so much more detailed without any hint of coldness. Furthermore it has the power to drive high impedance headphones with the control to cope with hyper sensitive iems. Add in analogue volume and you have a perfect package. Another iFi triumph.

Perfect Replacement

My Origin Live tonearm lift would not stay up, making cueing difficult. This quick and easy replacement (which fits most Rega based arms) solved the problem. Fitting is easy but be aware: you may have to unscrew your tonearm to be able to remove the old mechanism and fit this one.

Quick VTA Adjustment

So much easier to adjust my arm now, and more accurate as it's continuously adjustable. No more fiddling about having to take the arm off to fit a new spacer, you just have to loosen the locknut by hand, adjust the quick adjuster up or down and nip the nut back up by hand. With a Rega based Origin Live tonearm, they are often quite sensitive to small changes in VTA. Now I can tweak till I get the right balance of soundstage and tonal balance. The combination pack with locknut and VTA adjuster is great value too.
