e5440, Pre-Modded. Great for aging LGA775 Boards

After having first ensured compatibility, I popped this into a board that used to house a Q6600. Ran out of the box, only required a microcode update to the bios to keep the fans from running 100% all the time. Overclocks fairly decently (15% increase is easy with basically not tweaking to voltages, et al), runs cooler than the Q6600 and comes at a 2.8 GHz frequency out of the box (about as high as I could get my garbage Q6600 to OC to stably). The single thread performance is a nice bump over the Q6600 and is less of a bottleneck for gaming than the Q6600 is. Matches the R9 270 much better, gives me acceptable gaming performance where the CPU was struggling to keep up. I use it in my secondary/LAN/travel PC and it was a solid upgrade for the $20-$25. And 12M of L2 cache is pretty sweet too. Definitely worth considering if your motherboard supports it and you want an affordable bump for a moderate system.
