This little book is packed with carefully considered adoption topics.
I bought this book because my husband and I have adopted one child and were considering adopting again. This is an easy read, yet it is packed with honesty, insight and helpful counsel. Reading Michelle Gardener's book is like sitting down for a cup of tea and having a chat with a Christian friend who will honestly tell you her struggles and successes, all with the goal of leading you to serve Christ through adoption, or serving others who are seeking to adopt.
She recommends other resources and cites knowledgeable psychologist, but what you will take away from this book is a picture of a multi-racial family that embraces their differences and rejoices in The Lord who loves variety.
I especially appreciated her insights regarding adoption of children with special needs, which intimidates many people. The Lord has led the Gardener family through physical, emotional and intellectual challenges, displaying His love and provision for His chosen ones.
The key verse for this book is James 1:27: "Religion that our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."

God sets boundaries and we must imitate Him
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich This book is packed with wisdom. It is like a series of counseling session for those who deal with narcissists, controllers, and manipulators. It explains how we unknowingly enable these people to continue their abuses, because we think we're being loving. Enablement is never the answer. Setting boundaries is both kind and wise.
