The Best on the Subject
Incredible text. Great Pictures. The best book extant on the differences between a Racing Mustang and the "warbirds" you see at airshows.
100 percent recommend

Yacht Reliance Book
Its not easy to find insight intonwhat was happening during the very interesting Cup challenges from Sir Lipton's Shamrocks. Tjis book is a fairly good read regarding thise times. Its not perfect, and i wish it was more illustrated with pictures and drawings, however its small format is not really suited for that. I did like the book and it certainly explained a lot anout the Herreshoff-NYYC relationship and how all of this transpired. Recommended!

A Very important book
This book is well known among thise who know what a Miller racecar is, but for most "car guys" they havent the faintest idea of how Miller, then Offenhauser and then the modifications of the same fit together. There will never be a better book on this subject, and the detail of the book, delineating every car made and its eventual fate.
The Miller car was the greatest "factory" racer built in this country during a time when racing was a very difficult and deadly occupation. That the carnage and violence of the era reviolved around such carefully built and beautifully designed machnes is hard to understand. Bugatti and others that shamelessly copied and attempted to match what Harry Miller had inspired them to do never really credited Miller. Probably because at that time everyone knew. But today unless you actually see one, it is impossible to understand. Seeing a car at Amelia Island a few years ago sparked my interest. Miller ranks as the most advanced and accomplished car and engine designer of the first thirty years of Automobiles, and his engines and cars ran for decades after against newer machines and continued to win.
If the US Government had taken an interest, as Nazi Germany did in cars during the thirties, and attempted to set a world speed record with government support, it would be a different history we have. Like the cars, this is a rare book, and due to its cost there will only be a thousand or so in print. I now have mine, and will keep it as long as I am alive. Should youwant one of the must have books on the motor car or racing cars, this book is one you must have. It is a history, a reference work and a monument to lives and cars that are scarcely remebered and now no more....
