Pioneer VSX D508 receiver review and analysis
2 von 3 finden das hilfreich This receiver is not a new model receiver, but has a lot of features that were the best available at the time of its release. I bought it just for that reason: power and features for the price.
I like the quantity of inputs and outputs so that several sources can be played (recorded) through the receiver.
The drawbacks are several: 1) Some features cannot be accessed or utilized without the remote. I will have to purchase a remote from somewhere so that I can get the full value from the receiver. 2) The amplifier is not strong and stable as others, although it sounds good. Speakers are wired in series, rather than parallel, which means Pioneer is afraid that running more that one pair of speakers will overtax the amplifier. 3) The tone controls are electronic push button in steps, rather than continuous. This means that with each incremental of change using the bass or treble controls, there is a step gap (momentary silence) in sound, instead of a variable change with no break in sound like potentiometers (turn knobs) provide. 4) A user's manual is recommended with this receiver.
So, in sum, good sound quality, versatility, and features, in exchange for not so strong of an amplifier and annoying tone control operation.

Steren cables
For $2.50 each, it would be hard to find even thin patch cables without gold plated contact ends. They are well made. I liked them so well I bought a second 10 pack.

This is a great collection CD to have if you like Poco. Pretty much all of their favorites are on this collection, both old and newer. The recording also has very low noise relative to the years of release of this music. I would recommend a Buy on this one.
