Marvellous add-on for Sony E camera users
Two years ago,
I switched from Sony APS-C (A230) to Sony E (A7 I). Considering the price level of nice FE lenses, I intended to preserve most of my Sony A ones. This was not the worst decision using a LE-EA adaptor from Sony.
From other Sony users, my attention was very early directed to other lenses, i. e. mounts. So I discovered old lenses like Rokkors as newer ones from Canon as well. Canon EF got my attention, so I started with some EF Teles quite early. I was overwhelmed by their picture quality, but not satisfied by AF performance of my former EF adaptor (Commlite).
I never intended to use a Metabones because of its price tag. So it took a while until I decided to give Metabones a try. I was pleased by their full given AF options to my cam, and by AF performance as well. It's not so fast as my kit FE lens, or my Sony A lenses with LA-EA4, but it's quite close to the latter one. In addition, it offers same features as for FE lenses (AF area, AF fields etc).
So I can give a warm recommendation for all Sony FE users who intend to invest into more than one lense, and who look for an optimum ratio of costs vs picture quality.
My deal breakers to Sony FE were lenses like EF 50/1.4 USM, EF 70-200/4L, EF 20-35. There are some more interesting lenses from Canon, so give this adaptor a try!
