The Nikon CL-L1 Lens Carrying Case
The Nikon CL-L1 Lens Carrying Case is designed to provide full and complete, 3 dimensional, heavy padded protection for either the Nikon 300mm F2.8 AF-S or AF-I Lens.
The case weighs approximately 5lbs, and is made of various materials, including nylon, and netting. There are multiple zippers, and the case covers provide significant overlap to keep out dust and moisture. Note that this case is not hermetically sealed - if the case is dropped into water, the lens would be damaged. The case provides significant overlap to protect against rain, and heavy dust contamination.
The case padding is significant. While I would not deliberately drop the lens, my opinion is that the lens would be sufficiently/fully protected against a drop of at least 32 inches, in *any* orientation. This means that the padding is heavy enough to protect the lens, regardless of how the case is dropped.
The case includes multiple carry straps (x2) - a handle strap, and a very heavy shoulder strap. The case provides a transparent slot into which a business card can be inserted. Finally, there are rubber feet on the bottom of the case.
Overall, this case is a very good alternative to the Nikon hard case CT-304.
