A mixed experience - sharp but not a flat field
7 von 8 finden das hilfreich The 24-70mm f/4 CZ Sony FE lens has a poor reputation, and after acquiring this, I understand why. Many people think it is very unsharp in the outer field. In fact, it has strong field curvature especially at 24-28mm, so if you focus on a distant subject at f/4 and 24mm the corners of the image will be focused around 2-3 feet. Even at longer lengths this issue is present. On three-dimensional subjects it rarely matters and one effect is that with typical landscapes, focused on the distance and with the lens set around f/8 to f/11, the foreground is actually sharper than it would be without this curvature of the focus plane. Focusing is fast and silent and the lens is a reasonable size; the centre of the image is very sharp across the full zoom range at f/4. It lacks the excellence of a design like the Olympus 12-40mm f/2.8 which we use on MFT, but few lenses for full frame DSLRs even approach the quality of that one. Overall, a good investment at the price, which included VAT for which I am registered. A full price non-refurb would still be a good buy as your main everyday lens on a Sony A7 series body.
