Title your review
Ignore the value for money rating, as I don't know how much your copy is going to be. I like this series of films, I read the books as a child / teenager, so barely remember the story in any great detail, so will not comment on how accurately its following the books. The special effects / computer generation is good, and doesn't go overboard. Not sure if I`d buy these from new (I have seen 3 of these) or see in the cinema, but for a night in front of the TV its good entertainment.

War Of THe Worlds live in 2006
0 von 1 finden das hilfreich Interesting attempt to record the War Of The Worlds preformed live at Wembley. The intro differs from the record, and I was pleased when Richard Burtons "No one would have believed " monologue started about 5 minutes later.
Two of the original singers appear, including Justin Hayward who`s Forever Autumn appears in full rather than the badly edited form that was put out as a single. The "Spirit Of Man" suffers badly without Phil Lynott who obviously couldnt appear, I`m sure that they could have found a better sound alike rather than going for a name singer in Russell Watson.
Special effects have obviously been enhanced for the DVD compared to what the concert goers saw. Recorded in 2006, I`m sure the 2009 preformances will have far more sophisticated effects.
My 10 year old sat with me and watched the concert to the end, and he has the attention span of a gnat, and hasnt heard the CD`s. We havent bothered with the second DVD of special features and interviews- basically because these are usually just self important people telling us how wonderful they are.
I`m sure that the basic nature of the visuals will be redressed when they release the DVD of the 2009 concerts, but this version will appear to a wider audience than those who are fans of the original recordings. Worth getting, but I wouldnt have paid over £10 for a copy.

Good but not outstanding
Like most here I had only heard 'Teenage Dirtbag' before, but not by Wheatus, but on a car ad by some session musicians, and also by the Ukulele Orchestra Of Great Britain. Decided to get the CD, and apart from the above track, the other stand out track is a cover of Erasure`s 'Respect'. Perhaps noticable that nothing from the band since has attracted any attention. This might be reflected in the sale prices its offered for.
A 'standard' album, in that it gets played, but not too regularly. Will eventually be recycled back onto E-Bay rather than kept, but not just yet.
