A Lifetime Keeper!
This book has lots of whole games annotated by Matthew Sadler, a world class Grandmaster and one of the most powerful all time British players! Its Opening Index is in both Names and ECO and it also has an Index of Themes as well as an Index of Players! This book can easily be loved by any level of chess player!!! Thank you Matthew Sadler and Natasha Regan!

Only ONE Whole Game
0 von 1 finden das hilfreich This book's description which was gleaned from its back cover gives one the impression that the book is loaded with well annotated games. There is only ONE whole game in the entire book. I recommend that the book dealer not even restock this book. Overall Chernev wrote excellent books but this one certainly is not his best. This "exact" same book if it included all the opening moves and an opening index would of course be vastly superior. Do NOT buy, sell, nor stock this book unless you are content with a chess book that only has positons and not whole games.

Book NOT Seriously for Chess Players of Any Level
The lack of substance in this book is regrettable. The Opening section only has one line that even goes as far as white's fifth move and several that only go as far as white's first move. Plenty of the principles and one line quotes from famous chess players are interesting, but the vast majority of them have no examples of play. Functionally, this book comes on as though intended to take one's money in exchange for no chess to examine.
