A great family heirloom
HN Beilby was my mother's father & though I was too young to remember him I have many photographs. My Mum grew up with Staffies & in my teens & early twenties she bought a brindle bitch called Merry who we all became very fond of.
Two weeks ago I collected from Dogs Trust a two & half year old tiger brindle bitch who had been with them for six months. She is an absolutely adorable dog, very feisty & full of fun & high jinx but also very very affectionate. I am very glad to have found her & been able to offer her a secure home but I wonder why she was so long in the care of Dogs Trust. Perhaps it is because this breed is still regarded by the general public with some suspicion. My grandfather clearly mentions this aspect in his book & I hope, in my own small way, to help to correct the misconception that these dogs are not to be trusted - with a decent owner & environment they absolutely are.

Good heavy duty cutting head
I needed to clear a fenced public footpath between a farmers field & a school playground that had a lot of waist high nettles & thistles in it & this head did a good job of dealing with it as well as providing a close finishing cut.
Apparently Stihl recommend soaking the blades in water overnight before first use as this helps deliver maximum toughness/wear resistance. I don't understand why & how much of a difference this makes but if you buy a pack of spare blades there is a tap/spray image on the bag but no explanation of why this is so.
