Good hearing protection; microphones allow stereo hearing.
These electronic earmuffs provide good hearing protection whilst faithfully reproducing ambient noise in stereo. You can hear where sounds are coming from and they aren't distorted, so it's not disorienting wearing these earmuffs. You can easily hear conversation at normal speaking volume and faint sounds like the rustling of clothing and the swish of grass as you move through it - which is great for hunting. You can hear what's going on even if you're wearing foam earplugs underneath - just turn the volume dial up.
They are a bit bulky, however this doesn't get in the way of my cheek weld against the rifle stock. I have a small head, so if there isn't a cheek weld issue for me then there probably won't be for most adults.
When it's completely quiet you can hear a very faint mechanical hiss through the speakers. However, these aren't audiophile-quality high-end studio musician headphones - they have very good sound quality for what they are - hearing protection for shooting sports. The microphones are shielded from the wind, which stops the wind producing an unpleasant rumbling noise through the speakers on a day where there is a bit of a breeze. When there are brisk or strong winds there is a bit more rumbling in the speakers but it doesn't drown out other important noises in the environment.
I've had mine for almost 3 weeks and am still on my first set of AAA batteries, so I believe that this device has good energy efficiency.
Overall I am very happy with this product. Other slimmer profile earmuffs in the same or greater price range didn't offer a sufficiently high noise attenuation level. I wasn't convinced that it was worth it to pay twice or three times as much for a high end model of electronic earmuffs. These work very well and are well-priced.

Put a good edge on my hatchet
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich The carbide sharpening blades on this tool are very aggressive - my Fiskars hatchet came from the shop with a very dull edge - 5 passes through the carbide notch sharpened the edge very well.
Most of the time you only need to use the ceramic parts of this tool to hone your blades after they've been moderately used. Follow the instructions that come with the product - they're very informative on how best to use this tool to take care of your blades - I was surprised at how sparingly it is recommended to use it - most of the time, 4 passes through the ceramic notch is all my blade needs.
The hinged rod is held in place by magnets.
The tool is a little heavier than I expected - still very easily portable in a pocket - the lanyard hole is good design.
My only quibble is that the larger ceramic sharpener labelled "serrated ceramic" moves a little in its housing and makes a very quiet rattling noise. The movement only occurs if you shake the tool - it doesn't affect its ability to sharpen, though, and it doesn't seem to rattle if I put the tool snugly in a dedicated organiser pocket in my pack or deep in my trouser pocket.
