Great little gadget
This is a very handy device for capturing and playing back audio from a computer. It isn't going to compete with audiophile units but, having said that, for casual listening the quality is really very good and at a fraction of the price. You have to actually be listening to the music to notice the difference. It is far better than my in-built audio and cheaper than other, similar units that I could find. Although the capture is only at 48kHz, the full 20kHz+ bandwidth is achieved. I use the Linux Debian operating system and I just plugged this in and it worked. It is listed in Audacity by the generic name, USB Audio CODEC. The feature that differentiates this device from the other similar Behringer computer interfaces is the phono amplifier. It is also the weakest feature. It works but the gain is a bit low and that means a bit more noise. So, if you don't need the phono equalisation and/or the TOSLINK output is useful to you, go for the UCA202 instead. I didn't try the headphone output.
