Healthcare Spaces by Roger Yee is a must have for any one involved in Healthcare Design. Volume 2 highlights the trend setters across the country. The current trend is for private more home like hospital environments. The focus is on the outcome of the patient. Patients do better when in a comfortable home like setting. This book is a fabulous reference for any one wanting to learn about Hospital Design or for the professional who is interested in patient outcome. There is a need for Healthcare Spaces of all sizes, from a small satellite location maybe even in a retail store, surgery centers, urgent care and large hospitals, Healthcare Spaces covers examples of most of these different needs. With rapid changes in technology there is an ever increasing need innovative Equipment Management. There are numerous examples through out the book. A good designer of Equipment Management Systems is Lifespan Healthcare which specializes in Equipment Management. When moving to a new unit one needs to ask themselves, what hose, cable or piece of equipment will be eliminated just by moving into a new unit? The answer is none! This requires a great deal of thought on the hospitals part to better manage everything. With a increasing focus on infection control and mass casualties, every things has to be managed in a way to promote quick disinfection and cleaning. So as a recap this book offers over views of 200 projects designed by 50 leading architects. This provides a wonderful reference for anyone interested in or involved healthcare design or involved in a oversight committee for a new unit. I would highly recomend this book.
