Best Casserole Cook Book Out There!
4 von 4 finden das hilfreich I purchased this cookbook after borrowing it from the library. I have tried many of the recipes during that time, and new there would be too many to copy, so I had to buy my own. Most recipes are very simple to make and I did not see any that called for extravagant ingredients. They give info on how to stock a pantry and how to double your recipe and freeze a casserole for another date (in the Casserole basics chapter.) Chapter titles include: Poultry, beef, Pork, and Seafood classics, Quick and Easy chapter, Potluck pleasers, Meatless classics, side dishes, plus several others. Most recipes can easily be adapted to use whole food ingredients, if they don't already (using brown rice, whole grain pasta, homemade cream soup recipes, etc.) These are excellent on a budget and when have company over - to fix a quick, easy, and inexpensive meal.

Quick and easy recipes
I bought this book because I was looking for a vegetarian cookbook that used simple, inexpensive ingredients and were easy to prepare. These recipes coming from third world countries who often live off the land, fit that bill. The book begins with a nutritional guide, info about how to best prepare the recipes, then divides the recipes by subject (starters, snacks and soups, main dishes) then by country (Africa, Asia, Latin America & the Caribbean, Middle East) Most recipes are vegan, but a few call for yogurt, milk or eggs. There are only about 5 recipes that use tofu / bean curd. Some recipes call for some not commonly found ingredients in the US, but they do occassionally offer substitutes or tell you where to find them. Recipes are far from you American fare and may take some getting used to. Every recipe I have tried so far has been excellent. This is a great way to increase your vegetable intake, introduce other cultures to your family or even great as side dishes.

Great “Meaty” Book
4 von 4 finden das hilfreich I borrowed this from the library and it was too meaty to not own my own copy. I don’t agree with everything in it but there is never a book that I totally agree with. I’m not done with it but have enjoyed the authors style of writing and the stories. I’m learning a lot.
