Not US made and not like they used to be
While this device does heat up if the element doesn't get damaged, it is nothing like the old ones were as far as the amount of heat produced. I suspect the amount of platinum has been reduced to save money causing it to be easily damaged as well as produce less heat.
It does make some heat when it will stay "lit" and will help warm up cold hands but, if you ever had one of the old ones, you will likely be disappointed with it. I haven't gotten the much cheaper Chinese versions yet to compare with this name brand but I expected more from Zippo but it turns out they outsourced the manufacture of this device to Taiwan.

Not for saltwater electrolysis
1 von 2 finden das hilfreich I ordered this thinking I could use it to make bleach from saltwater and this electrode is not capable of that. It is magnetic and gets destroyed if used for electrolysis. Possibly works fine for its intended use for jewelry plating but don't expect it to work like a real platinum electrode.
