Perfect for upgrading vintage gear
This worked great as a replacement for a running capacitor for the motor in a vintage AKAI stereo tape recorder from the 1960s. The pictures shows the test setup prior to permanent installation. It worked!

Though not an exact fit, you will enjoy a much improved performance over the original pickups
Pros far outweigh cons on this item.
Pros: I installed this in a vintage 1964 500/1 Hofner bass at the neck position to replace the original which had a coil that opened up, apparently from age. The output from this new pickup is much, much stronger than the output from the other pickup, still original, at the bridge which I believe still works. I have been so please with the new replacement pickup that I ordered a second one today.
Cons: This replacement pickup is not exactly the same in dimensions as the original. What I did was file away some of the plastic from the original plastic pickup holder so as to avoid drilling additional mounting holes in the top wood panel of the bass to fit the new plastic holder that comes with the new pickup. When I replace the neck pickup, I will have to carefully cut or grind away the ends of all four threaded screws positioned under strings to avoid enlarging the cutout under the pickup. By the way, the cutout under the neck pickup is already large enough to clear the ends of the four screws.
In my case, it was far more important to me to enjoy the new powerful output from this old relic of a bass afforded by these new pickups than to "preserve" the exact appearance of the bass as an antique.
