Not my cup of tea
On paper this should have been perfect for me, as I'm starting out back into production. The unit I have seems to have an internal issue as there is lots of feedback. I have tried shielded RCA leads and different USB type A to B, even one from Digital Village, but still the interference still persists. I know it's not my KRK's as they have been checked. If working well it would have suited my needs, sort of. A very basic interface with the ability to only have one instrument or microphone at a time.
It does have phantom power for mics and the inputs are all at the front, but there are only RCA outs which, even at this price range, is limiting. The build is fully plastic, but is still a solid feeling unit, but the Focusrite Scarlette Solo has a more rugged feel due to the metal enclosure. It also means that you don't have to worry if you're carrying it about.
It's a good start for home use and the button and dial layout is perfect. The addition of LED channel monitors is a big plus.

A great little gem
Bought thus great little mix CD for under £4 and it has a number of lovely number of tunes from 1960 to 2002, including the original Dr Who theme. A must for lovers of electronica and want some rare tracks.

Awesome saw
Having looked at the cheaper, and more expensive options, I chose the Laplander based on a number of things. Its compact, the locking mechanism is out of the way but easily operated by a single gloved hand. It cuts on both strokes and this is useful when cutting in awkward positions. I have a Silky and as they only cut on the pull stroke it limits its flexibility.
I use my saw for bushcraft so the coating gets abuse. This is my second as my first one has been adopted by my missus and her one still has 95% of the coating after 3 years hard use. If need be the teeth can be sharpened, though I never had to and the teeth have always been sharp.
The locking mechanism locks the blade in both open and close positions, something the Silky doesn't do as only locks in the open position.
The Silky katana is a great saw and I do use it, but the Laplander is more adaptable and secure.
