Nice Enough Loco...
This particular model was the first OO engine I acquired. It is lovely to look at, and overall is a nice (enough) model.
The "Ringfield" tender-drive however, has its limitations: a rather high start-up speed, so it is not the greatest performer. This is to be expected from a 3-pole motor of this type of design. Good enough for mainline running, but leave the low-speed jobs to your Bachmann can-motored engines.

Hey, it's Kato!
Have used and enjoyed Kato products ( literally) for decades. As good or better than anything else being offered today. Always works, and parts are always available through their website.
Simply the best.
No need to say more than that.

Nice Little Pacific
Not completely "brass" and not completely "die cast". Nice enough detail, the brass gears make it a little on the loud side. Not on a level with a PFM or United model, but not bad either.
As they say these days; "it is what it is".
