Solid lens that still holds up!
There's no shortage of reviews for this sleeper lens, and they're all pretty much on the money. It really is super sharp straight from f/1.8, even through the corners. It's also very good at reducing flares against bright lights.
The copy I received didn't have any problems with autofocus as some reviewers have experienced; as far as I know, the early copies had issues, but the later copies work just fine. In-lens image stabilization is about average for this day and age, which is still good enough for this focal length. Its focusing ring handles averagely as well.
This lens is very upfront about its weaknesses. It's a rather bulky lens indeed. And it doesn't take a keen eye to notice its strong chromatic aberration. I think it's a small price to pay, as eliminating aberration in post is far easier than increasing details and reducing camera shake.
