The Exact Key That I Needed

I bought an old used John Deere excavator but it was missing the original keys. The previous owner just installed a different ignition switch and got the gas cap unlocked. He kept the original ignition switch so I looked up the key part number on-line then found this listing. The package had two keys and they were correct for my old excavator. I'm a happy man. Thanks.

Exact Replacement Part, Almost

Since these have a plastic base that degrades over time, my original broke off in my hand. This new one was an exact copy but the dye lot was very slightly different (could be due to fading of my old original door panel over time). The color difference is so slight it blends in OK. I don't know about price; these all seem a bit expensive for what they are but at least they are available. Getting the top of the door panel off the door was a bit more frustrating than I expected. Maybe just popping the panel out at the bottom and reaching in with a stubby Phillips screwdriver to get the two rearward mounting screws loose from the broken end would have been better but would require finding the screws by feel. All in all, my interior looks whole again which was the plan.

Amaxing amount of historic information.

How amazing the amount of work that went into collecting all this information and it was done before the internet. I got a lot of confirmation of the dates for my family members that were a part of the Quaker community in the 17 and 1800s.
