Kodak EASYSHARE Z8612 Not Bad at all!

This offers excellent capability for the price. the 12x zoom is what you would buy the camera for. So much better than suffering with a small zoom level. As a point and shoot photographer there are lots of things to play with and explore but the results with the auto settings are pretty good. (I am more than happy with them.) The 16 sec long exposure is really good for photographing stars. I've never tried this before but the results were pleasing just from pointing up on a tripod. The screw on option for telephoto lenses and filters is also worth exploring and isn't something I've played with before. I can see this camera taking my skills from point and shoot to being something a little more thoughtful. I love the zoom!!! Battery life is not as good as I would have hoped partly because you have to use the screen all the time. There is no secondary view finder. (This is a bit of a personal gripe.) Construction is a bit plastic but to be fair, cameras should always be treated with respect and care to keep them working well. not quite up to the rugged feel of my previous Kodak or Kyocera cameras. It's also a bit difficult to use in the dark as you can't see the controls. Hope this is of use.

Does what it says.

Brought to accompany a home line button to make it easier to find. Works ok. Quite sensitive and loud. Unable to compare with similar items but does what I wanted it to do.

Thoughts on the HG41

Seems good value. Brought as a replacement to a 20yr old+ Exage 500LX cassette. Direct replacement with no issues. Perhaps not the lightest but usual Shimano quality and seems solid. Hope it lasts as long as the old one. 11T small sprocket is a real bonus.
