Good heavy duty grab bar. Polished brass finish appears to be very good quality.

Way better than the caps over the metal washers.
I used these to replace the vinyl caps over stainless washers. Those caps never fit right over the washer and as a result they often split. These are great; they snap tight over the plastic washer and are snug enough not to come off, but also not so snug that they are difficult to snap on. Could not be more pleased and have now replaced all 30 or so of the old style on my vinyl fence.

Not good in prolonged direct sun.
This works well at first and for a long time IF it isn't exposed to sunlight every day. I have 2 and the one that is in a shaded area is just fine after 3 years. However the one that is in the open and gets sun exposure has been junk for over a year due to the damage caused by the UV rays. The housing has deteriorated, the retraction mechanism is shot and the hose that's exposed (not coiled up) is also hard, terribly discolored and useless. I am planning to replace the exposed one, but I will get a cover for it so that it is protected from the sun's UV rays. Given that it's for use outside and no mention is made by the manufacturer about sun exposure, I can only recommend the product if it's protected from the sun. Otherwise you'll have a nice, large paperweight after a little over a year.
I'm staying with the same reel for the replacement because I don't want to have to change the mounting holes since they are in stucco. Otherwise, I would look more into other brands to see if they say anything about protection against UV damage.
