The SD we have all been waiting for, simply the best one in any scale.
amazing level of fine surface detail, even more detailed than the larger Zvezda kit. Already pre drilled with hundreds of properly aligned tiny holes ready for lighting. I bought the limited edition with lighting and extra booklet. The modelling booklet is very small and hard to read with only an English translation on the back. It simply covers installation of fibre optics as opposed to what the kit provides which is LED's to shine through the pre drilled holes. Clear parts are included but since the regular parts are already predrilled, the main upside of using the clear parts is the ability to include some of the larger lights in the trenches by using a larger diameter fibre optic and scraping/masking some of the larger areas to be lit. Ultimately I think anyone buying this to build is probably best off buying the basic kit and relying on the aftermarket crowd or their own skills for lighting. One thing which will need work are the main engine bells, they should be split into two sections with an innner and outer circle with a clearly visible gap, kit parts are cast as one piece and also do not include the prominent engine baffles seen on the ANH Star Destroyer. Sure someone will produce an aftermarket fix for these.
