This thing saved my computer from retirement!
3 von 3 finden das hilfreich When I needed to upgrade the graphics card of my trusty old HP z210 to a Radeon RX580, the new card refused to boot with the standard 400W power supply. I first tried various 8-pin adapters, but it was just an issue of not enough juice. With this adapter I was able to slot in my Seasonic 650W ATX power supply (screws don't align, but it fits with room to spare) and now I'm using that computer to write this review. For a while I thought I would have to retire my beloved old friend the z210, but now it can actually keep up with new games and then some.

Cool and quiet
1 von 1 finden das hilfreich I know this thing is rated at 130W, but it actually uses very little power, rarely more than 50W. Core voltage is 1.1V. So even when I have all the cores maxed out for hours, I can't get this thing to go above 62C with a basic Dell heatsink. Fans generally stay around 1000 rpm even at full load, and I can't hear them. I just know that if I could overclock this thing, it could reach some sick speeds. The fact that I can't is a shame.

Lots of fiddling but no regrets
This is one of the rare electronic devices that's actually getting more expensive over time, thanks to people repurposing it as a webcam. I also bought it with that purpose in mind, and I finally got it working to my satisfaction. One accessory I wish I bought sooner: a dummy battery. Just powering the screen and using the HDMI out drains the battery in about two hours. Another thing I was too dumb to realize: there are two kinds of "shrunken" HDMI plugs besides the standard one: MINI HDMI and MICRO HDMI. For this you will need the MICRO.
Once you get this working you will become painfully aware of the inadequacies of your lighting. I had to experiment a lot with mine - along with white balance, ISO, and OBS settings - before I got results I liked. Then I thought that people still might not notice the quality improvement over my old c920 webcam, but they actually do. My new grey hairs are now precisely resolved!
