Antidote to Muhammad Ali Hagiography
This book on the third fight between Ali and Frazier ("The Thrilla in Manilla") came out shortly before author Mark Kram's death in 2002. It is a very well written account of the fight, as well going into the backgrounds of each fighters. Particularly interesting is Kram's sections on Ali, who he had extensive access to during his career covering boxing at Sports Illustrated. Kram's take on Ali is very different (and much more negative) than most writers who covered Ali, both during and after his ring career. A must read for anyone who is a boxing fan.
