Hard Knox at Shimer College
2 von 2 finden das hilfreich I bought this DVD to take to a reunion at Shimer College in Chicago, Illinois, as a donation so the students at the new campus there could get a glimpse of our old campus. "Hard Knox" was filmed at the original Shimer in Mt. Carroll, Illinois, with scenes on the campus and in Point Rock Park where we all spent many happy hours. The college was forced to vacate the old campus in the late seventies after 120 years, and is currently located at and in partnership with the Illinois Institute of Technology where the partnership is a proving a benefit to both schools. The movie is actually quite good; of course, how could it not be with Robert Conrad! He plays a grounded pilot who returns to his former school to be headmaster, and to straighten things out. It's a little schmaltzy, with everything working out for everyone, but hey, in this day and age, we all need a little of that. The characters are particularly likeable, the storyline is entertaining, and the scenes of the midwestern countryside give a real feeling for that part of our country.

Flamingo Sink Strainer Stopper
A wonderful piece of whimsy! Yes, it cost a little more than the $3.99 one in the grocery store, but every time I use my kitchen sink ~ which is A LOT! ~ I enjoy seeing the little fellow. It's good and solid, the pink enamel seems firmly on, and the whole thing just has a look and feel of being very well made.
