Great book that builds a good story based on Ernest Hemingway's adventures in Cuba during the second World War.
Dan Simmons takes real facts and then builds a great story around those facts and the bigger-than-life personna of Ernest Hemingway. Several famous names of the era are interlaced into the story, with J Edgar Hoover's FBI providing a double-dealing back-story. Dan Simmons is a master and this novel will not disappoint. I couldn't put it down, and actually want to go back and read it again.

As with much in the real world, money was at the center of it. How to pay for the war debt, pay the army, pay for ongoing provisions for the army was one of the biggest problems for the young US. Robert Morris is not often counted as one of the primary founders of our nation, but Ellis points out how we couldn't have survived as a nation without his talents, and his fortune.
