Imelda May is a rising star!
This Irish lass has a gutty, soulful voice that sounds comfortably at home whether she is singing rock, blues, or jazz. She is way much more than rockabilly! Not only that, Imelda wrote nearly every song on the CD! I saw her and her band (great musicians!) open for Jeff Beck a few weeks ago. I had no idea who she was and neither did most of the audience. There was the expected crowd disinterest during the first song or two and then, as if a light was suddenly turned on, everyone started paying attention. By the end of the band's set she was receiving standing ovations. I highly recommend this CD to anyone who enjoys a singer who exudes honest emotion when she sings and doesn't require Pro Tools in the studio to hit the proper note. Check out her videos on YouTube, then buy this CD. Imelda will be a star, yes, even here in the USA as she is in the United Kingdom!
