920D Loaded Pickguard Fender Classic 72 Telecaster Tele Thinline SH-2/TB-4 BK/BK

This is not a true drop-in and forget it kind of product.

Let me start by saying that the pickups sound great. I have had other musicians try it and they were impressed. However, it took some doing to get it to work. First of all, the pickguard is not notched by the bridge so it overlaps the bridge I had to take a Dremel tool to notch around the bridge. Secondly, the two pickups are wired together using a rather thick, straight length of wire. On a standard 72 thinline, there is no rout to accommodate this wire, so the pickguard bulges over the wire. I remedied that by using a Dremel with a plunge router attachment and routed out a channel to accommodate the rather thick wire. A lot of work for a loaded pickup, but the tone was classic.

Great vintage tone

Great vintage tone. Neck pickup is polite but with fairly aggressive tone. Bridge pickup has a little lower gain.

Better Instructions Would Make This a Great Product

I like the product but the installation instructions are hard to understand. Went to YourTube and got confused. Looks like there are two versions of the product. The newer version comes in blue packaging and the attachment mechanism has been "updated".
