Omega Man + Umbrellas of Cherbourg - Michel Legrand = Glen and Randa
Although it's hard to say with absolute surety, this film is the most "realistic" post-apocalyptic film I have seen. Bleak, but not too bleak. Just grubby enough. Gratuitous nudity without being lascivious.
Through the lens of hindsight, the plot is a little predictable, but only because of the vast expansion of the genre from this film to the present day.
A goodie!

Worthy
Herzog is the King of cinema, and these earlyish gems prove his oeuvre. An auctioneer and the MC in How Much Wood... were later cast as the auctioneer and bank representative, respectively, in Stroszek.

The Road Warrior meets Dune meets To Wong Foo
If you're looking for the third leg of the stool that would be completed by Road House and Point Break; keep looking. This is a magnificent film, complete with Swayze high-kicks, Swayze zen koans, and inexplicable shots of Swayze meditating, but not once does anyone get a pitbull thrown at them.
Sadly, this version is a cropped 1.33:1. There are some nice shots of desertscape and weird futuristic machinery that would be more enjoyable in the film's original 1.85 ratio. Also, the sound quality is a little lackluster and there was little to no noise reduction performed on this dubbing, I can tell you.
Not worth the $30 eBayers routinely ask, but if you're a Swayze aficionado- find one for $20 that will nestle all cozy between Red Dawn and Skatetown, U.S.A.
