The Fantastic Saint (ExLib) by Leslie Charteris

The Saint enters unknown territory . . .
A collection of six stories about Simon Templar, a.k.a., The Saint, in which he encounters out-of-the-ordinary events. Two involve voodoo/magic, one is science fiction by timing (a story of a helicopter a few years before there were any), a novella involving a process for making gold, a story of a classic mad scientist who wants to unleash giant ants on mankind, and an encounter with the celebrated inhabitant of a certain Scottish loch, plus a scholarly introduction by one of the editors (Greenberg) and an afterword by Leslie Charteris himself. Stories that should appeal to fans of the Saint and also of interest to sf fans who like early sf stories. At lest two of the stories (the giant ants and the Loch Ness entries) were adapted for the TV show with Roger Moore.

Terrific fun book by a terrific fun writer.
Just suppose them ugly ol' Martians in that wowser of a book by that Good Ol' Limey Boy, Herbie Geoge, had landed where everybody, man, woman, and chile, had guns and knew how to shoot 'em. Wahoo, get them extraterrestrial varmints. Martians are in season . . . .

An angel of the strings!
The lady does her usual amazing job of playing hot jazz licks on her fiddle, accompanied by other musicians whose name were unfamiliar to me, but I'll be looking for their other recordings, too, because they nailed it with Terai, and their take on her signature tune, Libertango, is right on the money, whether dollars or yen. I wish more jazz buffs in the U.S. were aware of this brilliant jazz virtuoso.
