Sperry is an investigative journalist
Good book. Sperry is not a talking head. He's a true investigative journalist, whose ilk is rare these days. Everyone else regurgitates daily talking-points. This guy has a spade and does the digging.

Comedian Steve Allen's Fateful Mistake.
Steve Allen on the Bible, Religion and Morality by Steve Allen
B/C I always admired Steve Allen, and his many talents, I wanted to see what his objections were to the Bible, but I found his study shallow, he didn't seem to understand Christian Soteriology, the analogy of Scripture, and many other things. Some of his objections stem from the fact that he was brought up as a Roman Catholic, plus the fact that he was excommunicated when he was divorced and remarried. He sees scripture as a hodge-podge of legends, myths, etc., and to top it off, he thinks his morality is superior to God's. Example: "Why would God judge Man so harshly for such a minor crime as eating a forbidden fruit?". If he had understood God's attributes he would have known. God has more than one aspect. He is not only merciful, but he is a Holy Judge, and can let nothing but perfection pass his scrutiny. The Garden pair were covenanted to God to perfect obedience; that's why he mercifully sent his Son - to confer His righteousness to us, to fulfill that Covenant. So yes, God is merciful, but he has a protocol. To seal his rejection, the author wrote not just one book dismissing the Bible, but TWO !!
