I bought 2 different types of faucets. Both types had rubber washers in the areas where they needed secured to the sink. It was difficult to tighten properly without over tightening and alignment of the fitting towards the pipe. They should have been designed without the rubber washers in these areas and use only pipe dope or Teflon tape. The design would lead to possibly leaking in the future due to the initial overtightening or undertightening. Eventually I butted the fitting up against the rubber washer and held the fitting with pliers while tightening the brass nut up against the sink surface.

I have been using standard metal wedges ...

I have been using standard metal wedges on wood for years. They always seem to lack that last little bit of spread to split the wood. I can tell just by looking at this one that when that 20lb sledge hammer hits it, that extra width from the wings on it will make a very big difference! I've been using a slate bar to finish prying the wood apart, which is a very big help. I won't be using that bar as much now. Just finished a 4ft diameter white oak and wish I would have found this style before.
