Amazing quality Americana record
The genre called Americana music is considered to be any fusion of country, rock n roll, blues, folk, R&B, and bluegrass or basically the roots of American music. If that be the case then this band does it so well and produces an album that combines rock energy with great melodies and memorable riffs with the angelic vocal harmonies of the Cryar sisters. There really is not a bad song on this entire record which runs at about 45 minutes. This album opens with a hard hitting beat and catchy banjo riff on "Break the Cycle" and segues into the celebratory "We Win". "New Kids" is a catchy banjo driven tune about trying to stay true to yourself in the face of conformity while the title track expresses the need for one another to a catchy chorus. "Not Enough" is a mostly piano based track with the bass, drums and guitars kicking in at the chorus. The song deals with having everything but still longing for something more. "Out West" is an excellent track and the longest on the album combining banjos and mandolins and keyboards and a good beat expressing a need to escape to someplace new. The final minute of the song is a bluesy vocal and tambourine chorus. "Signs" is one of the more rockin' tracks that is keyboard driven. "Cynical Soul" is a simple but catchy banjo tune. "The Curtain" is an emotional acoustic ballad dealing with the strain that life on the road takes on personal relationships. The music and Callie's vocals capture the emotion in the song really well. "Please" is complimentary to the title track while "You Leave Me" is energetic and soulful. The album closes with the spiritually oriented "Thirst No More" which also is sung with great emotion by Phoebe. Surely this can easily be one of those "why isn't this more popular" kind of albums. An album of such high quality certainly should have more recognition and it seems like a shame that few people know about this. I found out of this band while listening to AccuRadio's "The Train" web stream and feel fortunate to enjoy the amazing talents of this young band. I certainly hope there will be more to come. Callie, Phoebe, Bruno and Taylor are great musicians all of whom play multiple instruments and all of the songs on this album were written by the band with a little outside help on all but two tracks. This is an enjoyable catchy, melodic and energetic Americana record for anyone fortunate to know of this band!
