Great Machine in a little package!
The Saeco VIA Veneto Combi is a great little machine. It has 28 different grind settings ( although we are finding 2 or 3 is plenty for a variety of grinds) and is very quiet. The hand filter is very easy to use and the transition from grind, tamp and brew is very smooth. One of the most awesome features is the " foaming attachment" on the steamer wand. It does an awesome job with any product ( we tried milk and soy ) and gets it right to 160 degrees in no time. The pumping system inside the machine is very quiet, as I mentioned to the point that espresso starts before you even know it. the easy controls and the very easy detachable drip tray make it a very nice machine.
Now for a few drawbacks, not big but enough so I couldn't give it an excellent on the rating. First and for most, the filter handle continues to drip or even run after you switch off the "coffee" switch. for some reason water still drips out of the filter and when you take the handle off to clean the grounds out, water still drips. I don't know if it's just residual pressure or what but just doing 4 coffees I had a drip tray 1/4 full of water/coffee. Second would be the lack of steam power in this little guy. I know it's not a Starbucks machine but I could either brew coffee OR steam milk. Not both. Not a huge deal since the espesso comes quick and the milk heats fast too. All in all, a coffee in less then 3 minutes. Third and last, as we were brewing coffee we noticed that the espresso itself really didn't have that "Creame`" look to the shots of coffee. It was hot and we tried several different coffee packs in the handle, but didn't get that true "black & tan" look. I did find that if I packed the filter fuller then the factory recommended, the coffee came out with more creame` but I don't know if that it detrimental or not. It did brew a very tasty espresso though and I guess thats the bottem line here.
Over all I'd give this machine a 8 out of 10 for the ease of use, the taste of the coffee and the built in grinder. I'd knock it for the lack of steam and pump pressure and the little nagging drip.
I plan to use it for all my coffee drinks!

Gear Is great!
910 xt is a great workout tool for those that want to keep track of a triathlon schedule. With the Ant sub system, syncing is not an issue, using the Garmin express software (free). Only drawback is, it doesn't easily give you the time of day; a feature that usually comes standard on a watch.
